Lore, origin and why it matters

Umbrella's public face

Umbrella presents itself as a pharmaceutical company, while secretly developing viruses and bio-organic weapons. Its red-and-white emblem links seemingly respectable research to the Spencer Mansion outbreak and the disaster in Raccoon City.

A legacy beyond the company

Umbrella falls in 2003, but its research and weapons continue circulating. Later Resident Evil crises grow from that legacy: destroying the corporation does not erase the biological threats it left behind.
