Lore, origin and why it matters

Special Tactics and Rescue Service

S.T.A.R.S. is Raccoon City's elite police unit, split into Alpha and Bravo Teams. In July 1998, Alpha Team searches for its missing colleagues in the Arklay Mountains and takes refuge in the Spencer Mansion, where an investigation becomes a struggle against Umbrella's experiments.

The mansion survivors

Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine belong to Alpha Team; Rebecca Chambers is Bravo Team's medic. Their discoveries turn the S.T.A.R.S. insignia into a reminder of the people who first confronted the conspiracy behind Resident Evil's outbreaks.
