Behind the find
Resident Evil 4's Merchant appears along Leon's route with weapons, upgrades and supplies. He buys treasures found throughout the village, castle and island, turning exploration into the money Leon needs to survive. His willingness to trade makes him an unusual point of relief inside the cult's territory.
The Merchant helps Leon without sharing much about himself. His concealed face and improbable network of stalls leave his history unexplained. That mystery is part of his appeal: the person offering the most useful assistance is also someone Leon never fully gets to know.
