Behind the find
Alessa Gillespie's psychic abilities and suffering lie at the heart of the original Silent Hill. Her mother Dahlia uses her in a ritual intended to summon the cult's god; Alessa's memories and fears then shape the nightmare Harry Mason encounters.
Several creatures reflect things from Alessa's everyday life: frightening dogs, insects and illustrations in books. The town's horror has a child's vocabulary, making Alessa a tragic source of its imagery rather than a simple villain.
